Chapter 10 - THE VALE LEGACY

One year later.

Spring had returned to Greenwich in full force. The vast lawns of the Vale estate were lush and green, surrounded by blooming cherry blossoms and old oak trees that rustled gently in the warm ocean breeze.

On the grand rear stone terrace overlooking the sea, a long wooden table was set for twenty people.

It was not a high-society dinner for politicians, diplomats, or billionaire investors.

Sitting along the table were the domestic staff of the Vale estate, their families, Toby Hart, Mrs. Gable, Dr. Aris, and Daniel Vale. Laughter and the cheerful clinking of glasses filled the afternoon air as waiters served roasted meats, fresh salads, and fine wines.

At the head of the long table sat Adrian Vale.

Beside him sat Lydia Hart, looking stunning in a simple cream silk blouse and dark trousers. She was now in her second semester at NYU, excelling in her business courses while running the domestic operations of the forty-room estate with flawless grace, deep efficiency, and quiet warmth.

Adrian stood up, holding his glass of sparkling mineral water.

The noise along the long table gradually quieted down as everyone turned their heads to look at the master of the house.

"I won't keep you long," Adrian said, his low baritone voice carrying easily across the sunlit terrace. "A year ago, this house was defined by fear. It was defined by the belief that money and power gave certain people the right to treat human beings as disposable."

He looked around the table, meeting the eyes of Mrs. Gable, Toby, Daniel, and the kitchen staff who had served his family for decades.

"My great-grandfather built these stone walls over a century ago," Adrian continued softly. "But a house is not made of stone or marble. It is made of the honor, the dignity, and the respect of the people who live and work inside it. Today, this estate belongs to all of us."

He raised his glass high toward the warm spring sky.

"To loyalty," Adrian said. "To truth. And to the family we choose."

"To the family we choose!" the twenty guests echoed in unison, raising their glasses with bright, joyful cheers that echoed across the green lawns and reached out toward the wide blue horizon of the sea.

Lydia looked up at Adrian as he sat back down beside her. She smiled—a clear, beautiful, unbroken smile that carried no traces of the shadows that had once threatened to destroy her life.

Adrian smiled back, taking a sip from his glass.

The dark legacy of the past had finally been washed away by the tide, leaving behind a home that was stronger, safer, and standing forever on stone.
